Search Demo
For some of you, conducting a search on our
site may be a new process. Well, were here to help. This Search Demo is
provided to give you a visual tour of the process, step by step.
Basically, a search involves five steps:
- select the jurisdiction(s) or collections you
want to search
- formulate a search query
- narrow your search by entering a date range
(optional)
- select the number of results to view
- submit the search query.
Sound easy? It is. Take this brief tour and
youll be on your way.
Step 1. Select Jurisdiction
To begin we need to choose a jurisdiction in
which to search. Note that we have several choices including the U.S. Supreme Court,
Federal Circuit Courts, Federal District Courts, State Appellate Courts and
Native American Tribal Courts. For our search example, well be working in the
Federal Circuits. To choose the 6th Circuit, click on the circle
next to "6th"
(see red loop). When we click on the continue button, well gain access to the
main search page.
